Sunset Flowers

I have noticed how this pretty pink salvia in the backyard glows as the light from the setting sun hits it. Here are some examples of how changing light, changing your perspective and your camera settings can produce a variety of results.

Soft backlighting from above creates a dreamy look:


A change in aperture darkens the subject and creates a sunburst:


A little lower and the sun is hidden, but its light still outlines the stem and leaves:


A little overexposure:


And darken the scene again for a silhouette:


As the sun goes down further, the light and colors change some more:


Move in a bit closer to isolate a piece of the subject:


Light through a tree in the background creates some bokeh:


And as the sun is almost set, the colors cool down too:
